Meet Mela - Founder & CEO

Mela laid the foundation for her successful career by graduating from HBCU Bowie State University in Bowie, MD, in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in science in business administration. This educational background provided her with a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of business management. Furthermore, she pursued a master’s degree in business with a concentration in program management in 2010, which enhanced her expertise in managing events seamlessly, particularly weddings. 

 

By leveraging her 15+ years expertise in consulting and program management, she ensures that every aspect of an event is meticulously planned and executed, leaving no room for errors or mishaps. Her ability to manage weddings flawlessly has earned her a reputation in the wedding industry as a reliable and efficient professional. 

In a soul-searching journey, Mela aligns her life’s purpose with Events By Clark since 2023. Beyond luxury events, the company raises awareness of prostate cancer, a cause deeply personal to Mela, who lost her grandfather and father to this disease. Determined to make an impact, she not only promotes awareness but also donates proceeds to a non-profit focusing on support, research, and health equity. Urgency stems from health disparities, emphasizing the need for awareness and early detection. Mela engages in heartfelt conversations, inspiring clients to advocate for regular screening.

Our Process Overview

Our dedicated team will review your submission and follow up with you within 48 hours to discuss next steps.  If you proceed with decor & design with Events By Clark a vision board will be created, which requires a $200 investment deposit. This amount will be credited toward your total decor package.

When planning do you utilize a preferred vendor list? 

Certainly! Our team exclusively collaborates with trusted vendors we have previously partnered with. Based on our established relationships, we can confidently recommend top-notch, professional vendors who will work alongside you to ensure that your special day is seamlessly organized and perfectly executed.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, Events By Clark does offer payment plans for our clients booking the Planning Packages with 50% non – refundable retainer and the remaining balance can be split into equal payments. We recognize that planning a large-scale event can be a significant undertaking, and we’re committed to working with you to make the process as manageable as possible. All other services and rentals require a 50% non – refundable retainer with the remaining balances are due two – weeks prior to the wedding.

Does your team handle decor, or do you refer clients to decor vendors? 

We certainly offer decor packages, but we also have trusted decor specialists that focus on live flowers if that’s the aesthetic you’re aiming for. We have a variety of decor partners we trust and would be happy to introduce you to.

What is the difference between a wedding coordinator vs. planner? 

A coordinator primarily consultants during the final stages after vendors are booked and the wedding day. A planner consults throughout the planning from process from the beginning.

Do I need planner? 

A wedding planner can alleviate stress, offer expertise, and manage details, which is especially beneficial if you’re planning a large or intricate wedding.

What do we do if it rains on our wedding day?

Always have a contingency plan, such as an indoor venue or tent rental. Discuss weather plans with your planner to ensure smooth execution.

Is there a limit on virtual meeting times? 

We’re here to support you as your consultants throughout this process. You can schedule virtual meetings at your convenience. Simply coordinate with our team to find a suitable time, or use our automatic calendar link for easy access to book appointments directly on our calendar.

For the “Relinquish the Day” Coordination package how soon do we start the timeline process?

While we typically recommend partnering for at least three months leading up to your wedding, we are open to beginning the process earlier if you have finalized all your vendors. This way, we can help develop your timeline to ensure everything is completed and executed smoothly.  Once a retainer if provided, our team will send you link to our professional planning system that allows you to start saving all your vendor information. Once completed you will submit to our team.
